My name is Mark and I am currently working on a "365-Word Project" by posting reflections on various words every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Today's word is "Boredom"Yesterday we had our second summer orientation and during my presentation I had the chance to speak about our Residential Living department. I talked about our buildings, the staff, how to select a roommate, move in day, and a lot of other important information. One of the most important topics I discussed, however, was the many different programs we have hosted in the past. This past year, our department of 20 Resident Assistants and 5 Resident Directors hosted over 300 programs during the academic year! |
Too often than not, my residents tell me that there is nothing to do and how they are bored. I don't believe them for a second. There is always something happening on campus, you just have to find it. Even if there isn't an event being hosted (which there typically is), it then becomes your responsibility to entertain yourself and create an adventure. The world is a large place and there are unlimited things to do. You are not allowed to be bored!
