We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world."
-Helen Keller

Although I feel like I say this almost all the time and then the post becomes one of the longest ones I've written, but this post is going to have to be a bit shorter than usual. Student orientation is tomorrow, and I need to be at my best!
It's kind of funny that brave is the topic for today since I'm a little scared of the way orientation will go tomorrow. I can be around students all day, but parents can sometimes be downright terrifying! haha I guess sometimes a little fear can only make you stronger. It makes sense, the parents want the best experience for their child, some of them become distressed because they don't know what all they need to do during this stressful and possibly new experience, and some parents might be scared to have their last child leave the nest.
There are a lot of brave people when considering new student orientation. The student is on the verge of something very new, the parents are unsure if they can let the student go over the edge and dive into the crystal blue waters below. As the water, it is my job to catch them as they fall and provide them with a great experience that they'll remember forever! It's not that great of an analogy, but all of this movement must be done in the smoothest way possible, otherwise the student may hurt themselves as they dive over the edge. Maybe imagining a student jumping off a ledge and having a parent possibly evening pushing them off is not the best way to look at this... Maybe they are about to enter a new area where gravity is inverted and the student will fly upwards toward solid ground, unharmed... not much better, but now the analogy is just getting weird. Maybe it is time to go to bed after-all. Goodnight all!
Question time: When was the last time you were a bit nervous and needed to be brave? Obviously I am going through that right now :)
About the video: I've wanted to use this music video since the beginning of this project and now that I'm on day 70, I feel like this is the best time as any to share it. It is not one of Rascal Flatts' most popular songs, but it has always had a special place in my heart. Sometimes being brave is being able to stand after you've lost the fight :)
