Happiness and moral duty are inseparably connected."- George Washington

This weekend I decided to watch the three Harry Potter Musicals: A Very Potter Musical, A Very Potter Sequel, and A Very Potter Senior Year. If you are not familiar with this fan-made content that is FREE on YouTube, and are an HP fan, you should watch these! Originally from the University of Michigan, a group of theater students came together and created an original parody of a Harry Potter Musical. They posted the show on YouTube and it went viral! Since then (2009), StarKid productions has come out with two more Harry Potter musicals as well as 7 other plays they have posted online to share with their fans! In these 7 plays, there includes a Star Wars parody (most recently done), Superhero parody, Little Mermaid Parody, as well as an Aladdin parody which received over $140,000 of funding from a kick-starter campaign! This group has quickly grown popular among their audience and have branched out into comedy sketches, music tours, and comic book sketches. The actor who played Harry Potter in the three musicals actually was also picked up by FOX and is one of the leading role in the TV show, Glee!
One of the elements that I have enjoyed about StarKid productions is the fact that they have been able to stay connected with one another throughout their past 6 years. Of course some of the characters leave the show and others come on, but some of the main actors who stick with you can be seen in almost every production. This is amazing to consider when some of them have other jobs, are living in different parts of the US, and are starting to enter different parts of their lives. In many ways I wish I could keep the level of connections some of them appear to have. Over time I have seem some friends float away and when I toss out a life ring, it is a comfort to see them come back in with a little effort. As we get older, I realize it becomes harder to make new friends sometimes, so although it is important to continue to move on, never forget the connections you have made in the past.
A Very Potter Senior year actually goes into this a little bit. Although most of the plays are funny and silly at the same time, plays like the third one dive into much deeper elements you never realized until you tear begins sliding down your cheek and you realize you are sobbing uncontrollably from a perfect ending to a perfect series. I realize each show is about three and a half hours long, but please take a weekend to enjoy them, they are very well done and the last play will mean so much more to you if you watch the first two right before it! You realize what HP is all about and sometimes it is okay to move on. Okay is wonderful sometimes :) Goodnight all!
