In my apartment, I have a bulletin board specifically set aside for empowerment and motivation. To anyone passing by, this board would be filled with meaningless pictures or words, an old wedding invitation, a picture of a package, a slip of folded paper, etc. Every item symbolizes something important to me. On this board, there is a sticky note with the words, "Dare to be Great" scribbled on it. It has been about three years since I had written that note, and as time has passed, I have forgotten the reason why I had originally put these words on the board. The funny thing is that time has created a new meaning for the phrase. Greatness is in us and it is our job to let it consume every piece of our entire being. This involves taking risks, not being afraid of going for what you want and possibly going into the battle without the skills and gaining them along the way. Our deepest fears are not that we are inadequate, our deepest fears are that we are powerful beyond measure.
I would like to end this post in a bit of a different way tonight. My neighbor shared this post with me today and I think it takes on a greater meaning when paired with the term, "Dare to be Great"...It is titled, "What Students Need to Hear" and it can be read here. Goodnight world, when you get a chance, take some time to show the world how great you really are!
