Baking makes me focus. On weighing the sugar. On sieving the flour. I find it calming and rewarding because, in fairness, it is sort of magic- you start off with all this disparate stuff, such as butter and eggs, and what you end up with is so totally different. And also delicious." -Marian Keyes

I have officially gotten everything where it needs to be and have even broken in the new oven! I made a double batch of chocolate chip cookies and I have to say that I miss having this smell consume every part of my apartment! I always feel very relaxed when I can make baked goods and it is nice to have an oven again.
As part of my do something nice for others campaign (mentioned yesterday), I went ahead and made a double batch of cookies to give out to some of the people who have been very helpful to me as I've gotten everything organized and figured out. I'm not sure if I made nearly enough for everyone, but I'm sure this will be a good starting point, they will probably go a lot longer since the students aren't back yet :).
I really didn't have much to share today, just the fact that I made cookies and had some guests over. I forgot how much I like to have people over. It can get pretty lonesome being in this big of a building all by yourself, so it is nice to have friends over for an hour or so. With it being a workday tomorrow, I best be off, goodnight everyone! Remember to do that nice thing for someone else as well as yourself. Maybe that thing for yourself could be partaking in a relaxing activity such as making cookies!
Question time: What is your favorite type of cookie? I'm a fan of the traditional chocolate chip myself, but was very proud of myself when I made a double chocolate cookie with mint extract drizzled over the top! Yum yum.
About the video: I really don't have any profound video to share today, so I thought it might be fun to share an older video which might bring a smile to your face. I give you some old friends who love cookies maybe a bit more than I do, enjoy :)
