Unlike many of the other posts, I have not completely planned out where I'm going with this topic, so we will see where my thoughts take me. When considering the term "Horizon" there are multiple images that come to mind, a sunrise/sunset, a glimmer of hope, or even the potential of a new day. For some reason I primarily picture a sunset over an ocean. It's odd that this image comes to my mind since I live on the east coast of the US and have never seen the sun setting over the water. Maybe that is why I think it is a beautiful sight, we tend to cherish things we wish we had. I remember going out with some friends as a kid to see the sunset and not piece together the fact that the sun would be setting where all of the houses were and not over the beach, we sure were confused that day :). I've seen many sunrises over the ocean, but it's really not the same thing. I guess I have a new bucket list item!
In the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean', Captain Jack Sparrow ends the movie with the phrase "Now, bring me that horizon". Not many people realize this was actually an improved line from Johnny Depp and I think it wraps up the movie perfectly. Although the phrase is up to different interpretations, I always saw it as everything coming together and a beautiful horizon would be the end to the perfect day. As things are whirling around at a hundred miles per hour, take some time to soak in the beauty around us. Find that perfect day and see it all the way down to the setting of the sun. Drink up me hearties yoho!
