Hello world! If you are new, welcome to the Luminstruct blog! My name is Mark and I am currently working on a "365-Word Project" by posting reflections on various words every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Today's word is "Locket".This blog post topic has proven to be one of the more difficult topics to write about. Even my quote website I use did not have a quote available, so bear with me on this one and if you make it to the end of the reflection, there is a video of Harry Potter and friends trying to destroy a locket, enjoy. |
It is interesting to see how technology has changed over time. Back in the day parents would proudly show individuals pictures of their children when opening a locket which they kept close to them at all times. Years later, this proud presentation became wallet-sized picture which could be readily available at a moment's notice. Now in the digital age, there are more options for pictures to be shown on cell phones, tablets, and other technology. I am interested to see what the next step will be.
With that being said, the concept behind the locket still holds true to this day. It is a chance for a parent to keep their child close to them at all times and show how proud they are of their student's accomplishments and abilities. It may not seem like much to listen to a story about a water-color art assignment, but it makes all the difference to that parent. It's all part of the orientation experience, to let their child go, but to always keep a piece of them close to their heart.
Question time: What "locket" picture do you like to keep close to you?
