Relax

I have so much chaos in my life, it's become normal. You become used to it. You have to just relax, calm down, take a deep breath and try to see how you can make things work rather than complain about how they're wrong." -Tom Welling

Hello world! For those of you who are new, welcome to the Luminstruct blog! I am currently working on a "365 Word Project" where everyday I will be posting a reflection on a word and today's word is "Relax".

So today was one of the most laid back days this whole summer. I was able to finish 'The Fault in Our Stars' and was able to go grocery shopping, take a nap, listen to music, and watch a movie. I know I'm going to have a lot to do once next week comes, so I might as well enjoy the time I have off for now.

The Fault in Our Stars: For a quick review, I enjoyed reading The Fault in Our Stars. John Green is a talented writer and I'm amazed a 35 year old man could portray the thoughts of a 16 year old girl so well! I liked the book, it was sad, but uplifting at the same time. In many ways I can see how it is one of the more popular books at the moment. The characters were well developed, I laughed a few times because of the situations they came across or what they said, and overall I felt like it was just very real. In the book, they actually discuss another book which ends abruptly and the characters try to track down the author to discover what happens to the characters. John Green actually mentioned in an interview recently that life just doesn't come to a complete conclusion. There are parts which are left unfinished, parts that just continue on in other directions, and sometimes in works of fiction, the remaining of the story is left to the imagination of the reader! Personally I will stick with my action adventure books which move forward in the story a bit faster, but I will probably still enjoy to see the movie once it comes out next week!
My rating: B+

Reading Rainbow update: As of right now, the kickstarter project is about to reach 3 million dollars funded! I have enjoyed the reaction videos they have posted and look forward to see what new reward packages they come up with next week. They have already announced a new stretch goal of 5 million dollars to reach more classrooms as well as make the website compatible for mobile and android devices. Personally I hope the funds continue to rise past the 5 million mark so they can begin planning to bring this option into public libraries as well! The sky is the limit :)

Personally I'm not really in the mood to talk about relaxation techniques for the next page, so instead I will answer a few more questions from my question bag!

Question 1: What movie character do you most identify with?
Answer 1: I actually have a list of characters/people I strive to be more like on a daily basis. I think I have mentioned them before in the conference room activity, but if I hadn't here is a quick list of my real/nonreal celebrity role models: Mr Feeny (Boy Meets World), Ellen DeGeneres, David Tennant (Doctor Who), Ms. Frizzle, Walt Disney, Patch Adams, and Robert Downey Jr. in an odd Muppets Christmas special!

Question 2: What can't you live without?
Answer 2: This is an easy one: my family, friends, and computer!

Question 3: If you had a million dollars, what would you buy first?
Answer 3: Probably not the most exciting answer, but I would probably pay off my college loan debt as well as possibly my sisters... I think it would also be cool to maybe hire someone who is tech savy to help me make videos for this page as well as organize the site a little better :)

Well there are plenty more questions to work from, so I might even add a question of the day a few times every week (we'll see). But it is after midnight, so I best to off. Goodnight all!

About the video: Although this video is a bit older, I found it very interesting. Listening to music is one of the best ways to relax, so it is interesting to see that it might even have restorative powers for the older generations. Isn't technology great?!
