It is neither wealth nor splendor; but tranquility and occupation which give you happiness."
-Thomas Jefferson

I'm going to be very transparent with you today, I had a fairly rough day at work. We ran into many problems and although we were able to overcome almost all of them, the day still ended with a parent upset with my work. Many people would not realize this about me, but I do take a lot of complaints and upset feelings very seriously and it all becomes very personal to me. Even after the people who were upset settle down and go about their business, I am still left to my thoughts and over-think the situation; thinking what I could have done in order to make things right and how I let others down. Often times a person is simply just trying to get their point across and want to ensure they are being heard, but what they don't see is me tossing and turning for that night as I replay the day over and over in my head.
I don't try to stress over things, I think it is simply the need to be accepted by others. I come from a very proud background, and when I don't do things as they should, I will try my best to correct a fault (especially if it was my doing). Today in particular, I finished work and then spent the rest of the day figuring out a game plan how I wanted to handle the situation. Tears were shed, stuff animals were hugged, and family were called, but in the end all you have to do is let it all out and allow yourself the ability reach a state of tranquility. Sometimes this happens by your own skills, sometimes this happens when you have no more tears to release! But don't worry about me, I'm doing much better now and here is how I turned my day around:
I've always found it is beneficial to have a secret place in mind that you can just get away and be whoever you want to be. Just like Cinderella's corner in the 1997 remake starring Brandy, it is important to figure out a place to escape from it all and then return to the daily ups and downs, equipped with the tools needed to turn your day around! I have mentioned this place before, but for now, it will be my own secret corner :) Goodnight all!
Question time: Do you have a secret place you like to get away to? What is it like?
