Hello world! For those of you who are new, welcome to the Luminstruct blog! I am currently working on a "365 Word Project" where everyday I will be posting a reflection on a word and today's word is "Envelope".
So I was actually not very excited about this word. There really isn't much out there that is more boring than a plain envelope with nothing in it. I even searched "envelope" on Google and to a very expected conclusion, there was nothing too exciting. I then searched "envelope quotes" in hopes of a lucky find, and I did get an obscure quote that mentioned "Pushing the Envelope"!
Pushing the Envelope was a term I never really paid much attention to and never really understood the phrase. Like many, I always assumed it meant "going too far"where in actuality, it means just going far enough to stretch the boundaries of our preconceived sense of reality! In other words, it's kind of fun to do the impossible ;) Funny enough, "pushing the envelope" is actually a mathematical phrase! If you are interested in learning more about it, you can find it here.
Although this is a bit of a vague statement, my goal is to push the envelope in my work and really make a difference in the world with my skills, creativity and talent. There are many students I come in contact with who seem to be stretched so thin with everything that they do that there could be no possible way they could take on another position or project. Just when you think they can't take anymore projects, they take on three more leaderships positions and rock them out! It is my goal to be more like them.
It amazes me that even though I am almost a month into this project, there are still people who tell me managing this kind of blog, supporting this type of website, being a professional as well as a student cannot be done. Yes I will get stressed and there are times when I may fall, but I just need to stand back up and continue to push the envelope. When a person takes this concept into their life, only amazing things can come from it!
