It's funny how we change as time goes by, I remember when I could ask a girl only two questions and immediately know if she was right for me or not. These two "highly profound" questions were, "What is your favorite color?" and "Do you wish on stars?" It seems silly now, and I think it's safe to say I've developed a bit more complex checkoff list, but in some cases these two questions still exist in some form or fashion. Although they may not be as simple anymore, the concepts still holds true.
"What is your favorite color" has now become what are interests/disinterests, likes/dislikes and hobbies. "Do you wish on stars" has now become what are your hopes, dreams and goals in your life. Of course there are also variables such as family, work, friends, and compatibility, but in many ways it is important to fall back on your original foundation.
You can call it innocent thinking or the thoughts of a dreamer, but even today I still wish on stars. I do believe you can't get far in life without a little hard work and creative thinking, but sometimes it is nice to just stare up at the heavens and recite the old Mother Goose nursery rhyme. I'm not sure what point I'm trying to make tonight, to be truthfully honest my mind is kind of numb with all the work I've been doing on finals and my capstone, but I guess the main message is this: Even when times get busy and maybe even stressful, don't forget to stare up at the stars. Many people take their beauty for granted and who knows, maybe there might just be some wish granting power still in them. Who knows, you and your future soul-mate may be wishing on the same bright star.
Goodnight all!
