Hello world! For those of you who are new, welcome to the Luminstruct blog! I am currently working on a "365 Word Project" where everyday I will be posting a reflection on a word and today's word is "sweet".
This morning I had a pleasant surprise from some of my RA/RD staff! The night before they had a gardening program and made a flowering pot for me, thanking me for "helping them grow". It was just what I needed in order to start this morning and it was just very sweet.
I'm still trying to figure out these students and how to interact with them in my role. In many ways I feel like Marlin from 'Finding Nemo' when he is talking with Squirt. It's like they are trying to communicate with me! All joking aside and taking the analogy one step further, I need to find the perfect balance between being Marlin and Crush. Crush is very laid back and lets things happen, whereas Marlin is driven, a little overbearing, and very strict. Sometimes it is necessary to be fun with respect as well. It will just go further in the end.
The last few posts have been a little longer than normal, so I'm cutting this one short. Big conference tomorrow, so I need some sleep...Night all! :)
