After I had my son I realized that I didn’t want to put him in daycare full time so I decided to find a way I could work from home while caring for him. Because of my role programming I was able to become a very efficient event planner. I have managed events with thousands of people and that gave me the confidence to open my own event planning business. I also taught myself some graphic design skills in my previous high-ed roles which I use in my Etsy business. I learned so much being an RA, a Grad Assistant, and in my Professional role that allowed me to become the professional I am now and I am so grateful for the opportunities they provided me. While I didn't stay in Higher Ed, I use what I learned there every day! All those conflict management skills really help when your working with a toddler!
